The Heart of the Home: Why We’re Bringing Our Passion for Kitchens to Orleans

If you’ve lived through a home renovation, you know the "contractor stigma" is real. We’ve all heard the stories of crews who don't show up, messy jobsites, or communication that just disappears. The Deposits never seen again.

When we founded LaBader Construction, we decided we were going to do things differently. We are Lina and Jacob, and as a husband-and-wife team with five kids, we aren’t just building houses—we’re building a reputation in the community we love.

Kitchen

A New Chapter: Our Passion for Kitchens

At the end of last year, we made a strategic decision to focus our energy and expertise on kitchen renovations. In our house, the kitchen is where life happens. It’s where the best conversations take place and where we truly connect as a family.

We often say that we love to travel the culinary world in our kitchen. On any given night, our stove might be a gateway to Asia, The Caribean, Africa, or the Middle East and more. It is our "creative mode." We spend hours in our kitchen not just prepping meals, but teaching our five children the art of cooking and the value of gathering together.

Because of this, we understand the "glory" of living in a home with a kitchen that actually works for you. We know the difference between a kitchen that is just "there" and a kitchen that inspires you to explore. While we are still more than happy to take on various home renovation projects, our heart is firmly in the kitchen. We want to help our neighbors in Orleans turn their kitchens into a space that invites them to travel the world without leaving home.

Professionalism Backed by Experience

Our approach to construction isn't just based on grit; it’s based on high-level professional experience. Before we focused on LaBader Construction full-time, we spent years in the Adult Education industry—Lina in a leadership role and Jacob in Project Management.

We traded the downtown commute and the 17/417 gridlock for a vision closer to home. Our professional backgrounds mean:

  • Leadership & Communication: We don’t just swing hammers; we lead projects with the organization and clarity you’d expect from a corporate office.

  • Precision Project Management: We know how to keep a timeline on track and a budget in check.

  • Educational Transparency: We make sure you understand every "why" behind the "how."

The Power of Two: Why Two Perspectives Matter

One of the biggest advantages we offer is having both a female and male perspective at the table. Construction can often feel like a "boys' club," which can make the process intimidating for many homeowners.

When you sit down with us, you get a balanced conversation:

  • Comfort & Collaboration: Having a female owner involved in the leadership and consultation process often makes these big decisions and technical conversations feel more approachable and collaborative.

  • Function Meets Execution: We look at your space from every angle—how it feels, how it functions for a family, and exactly how it needs to be built to last.

The LaBader Standard: We Live Where We Work

Because we focus exclusively on Orleans, we are your neighbors. We see you at the grocery store and the local rink, and that accountability is why we hold ourselves to a higher standard:

  • We Show Up: Since we aren't commuting across the city, we are on-site every day until your project is finished.

  • A Respectful Site: Your home is a sanctuary. We maintain a strict no-substances policy and keep a clean, professional jobsite for the safety and comfort of your family.

  • Supporting Local: We team up with other local Orleans small businesses. When we work together, our whole community grows.

Building a Legacy

At the end of the day, we are a family of seven building a legacy. We treat your renovation with the same care we give our own home. Whether it’s a full kitchen overhaul or a custom home project, we’re here to change the way Orleans views construction—one project at a time.
